Our program development work in the K-3 educational space is built around decades of research indicating that students who develop strong whole and rational number understanding are more likely to succeed in later coursework, pursue advanced concepts, and graduate from high school.
Students in the K-3 Math Corps program receive support in pairs everyday for 20 minutes. Each of the 25+ unique lessons use a variety of empirically-supported delivery strategies with the benefit of tailoring each session to students’ needs.
Preliminary data provides evidence that after just 10 weeks of tutoring interventions, students receiving support from a K-3 Math Corps tutor were able to make significant growth in their math skills. The average percentage correct on a test of whole and rational numbers increasing from 34% in the fall to 78% in the spring.
